Week 3

Arnold watching his baby...do not worry mom he does not sleep with her! I just laid her down and he looked in the bassinet.

This should explain my week....I cannot remember what happened. Leaf stayed home, I slept, I woke up, and I fed the baby. We did see a friend on ours who also had a baby recently.
Me and Baby Emma, she is 6 weeks

Other than that I feel great and I am back to walking and doing normal things.

Part of my fog right now is due to the fact Gram is back in the hospital and life as she knows it will never be the same. She will most likely not return to her apartment and she needs more care than we can give her. She needs regular breathing treatments and to eat more. To say she was not eating healthy is an understatement. Basically she was eating chocolate ice cream with chocolate syrup for dinner and pie. It was not that she did not have access to cooked food the woman just likes ice cream! Hopefully Gram's quality of life will improve with all the breathing treatments.

At some point I will give my rant on smoking and lack of exercise. I am three for three for grandmothers who smoked and now have emphysema. It is absolutely horrible to watch.

Anyhow, I will make sure to get a good picture this Saturday since Elana will be four weeks old!

Week 2

This week was the big trip to the doctors to see if Elana gained back her weight. If it was not obvious by the pictures, it is obvious by her appetite that Elana is Leaf's daughter. She eats all the time and easily gained enough to meet her birth weight and then some. I have the sore nipples to prove how much she ate but if she is healthy then it is worth it.

We finally made it out to see Gram, who has been sick. We had to wait a long time but it was worth it. I even convinced Gram to let us take some pictures and they are great. I think it helped Gram feel a little better to hold her 4th great granddaughter!

We also made it to Grandma and Grandpa's to see everyone. It took until Tuesday for the echo of Camryn asking to hold the baby left my ears. Camryn is a big fan of Elana which will be great down the road. It is really cute to see Camryn get so excited to see her cousin. The other girls are excited as well but they do not have the addiction Cam has.
As far as life at home went Grandpa was here all week to help out. There were only a few diaper mishaps. It is amazing how powerful a little baby can be. I had no idea poop could fly so far.

It has been really nice to have all the help from our family but I am looking forward to this week when Leaf and I are home together. So far it has been great .... Leaf is in love and he has "conversations with the baby." Elana thanks him for changing her poopy diapers, tells him she wants a "boobie smoothie," and all sorts of things. It was cute at first but it is a bit annoying at 6 in the morning. Other than being overly enthusiastic early in the morning Leaf has done an amazing job. He is totally hands on and loves every bit of being a dad. I know I am not the nicest person when I do not get a lot of sleep but I hope he knows how much I appreciate him.

Well enough for now...
